Watercolour Art

I began painting with watercolour in my teenage years, and it became a great relief during that stage of my life. I was fortunate to be trained for four years (around 500 hours by one of the finest watercolour artists in Lithuania, who generously shared his wisdom, encouragement, and technique with me.

At eighteen, I entered the Arts Academy and gradually shifted my focus to oil painting, pushing watercolour into the background — yet my love for it has remained vivid. I believe watercolour has a quality that no other medium can match: its transparency, allowing the texture of the paper to breathe through, and the subtle spectrum of colours it creates.

Most of all, I cherish its honesty. Watercolour doesn’t allow endless corrections; you must get it right the first time. That demands extraordinary concentration and dedication. It’s also wonderfully physical and chemical — water running down the page, guided by gravity, or the alchemy that happens when pigments meet or when salt is sprinkled onto wet paper, creating unpredictable textures.

That blend of control and surrender is what makes watercolour so compelling to me. You learn to guide it, yet it always retains its own will — and that is its beauty.

The purpose of this website is, first of all, to inspire others to pick up a good-quality watercolour set and give it a try. Splash, paint, sit down, and lose yourself in the magical moment of creating, when the whole world seems to disappear.

Here I share my experiments, work, and thoughts, encouraging you to notice the beauty around you and truly absorb it. And the best way to do that is through the act of painting — letting colours, water, and paper lead you into a quiet conversation with the world.
